Ray Waldo is a retired pastor with a passion for sharing knowledge, understanding and (if possible), wisdom with everyone he meets. Prior to his retirement, Ray served as a local pastor and teacher to five different churches in two states. He also served as a short-term missionary, teacher, and crusade speaker to groups in Mexico, Kenya, Uganda & the Democratic Republic of Congo (while Congo was still in conflict).
Ray holds the highest level of ministry credentials with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). Being retired, his current (unofficial) assignment is that of “Technology Evangelist.” He is available to speak & consult with churches or other groups concerning his specialty of using the Internet and other technologies in ministry.
Ray is also a widely recognized teacher, writer and public speaker. He was the top-billed speaker to groups of over 10,000 people when he visited Africa. He is currently writing two books (online) that he expects to be published soon. His devotional website, the Chief Shepherd serves ministers and lay people on seven continents.
In 1987, Ray founded the “Christian Distribution Network” (CDN) with the opening of his “Preacher Online” BBS. The BBS evolved to the CDN, which later evolved into the “CDN Today” network. Both networks were instrumental in providing free Christian resources (including the original Online Bible) to people on seven continents. When Ray started using the Internet, the Domain name “CDN” was already taken so he chose CDNToday to represent the new network. For more, visit here to read the history of the CDN.
Later, he founded “Just Ordinary Folks” (JOF) network which enveloped the CDNToday project. JOF eventually became the “Between The Lines Online Community” (BTLOC) that is in use today. BTLOC offers free web hosting and technical support to selected writers. User-owned sites are hosted for people who feel gifted in some speciality area and who wish to share their knowledge and/or skills with others.
Ray graduated from Mississippi State University with a Master of Educational Psychology degree (with emphasis in statistics.) He was trained in electronics design while serving in the USAF. As a bi-vocational pastor, he worked in the electronics field until he took a position as a Logistics Planner for the US Government.
Ray is an avid technology specialist and held professional credentials for Microsoft networking products. More recently he has become a fan of Android and ChromeOS. Ray’s second passion (after sharing knowledge) is to make technology accessible to the common man. His “Bishop of Technology” website offers advice and guidance to everyday people who want to know more about how technology can be used in their everyday life.
Vivian has tolerated Ray since their marriage over 50 years ago. They have three grown children (who happen to be the most beautiful children ever born) and two grandsons (also perfect). They also have four adopted children at home (all of the canine species – but they don’t tell the “kids” about that). The Waldo family resides in a lovely home in one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations in Southern Louisiana.
Ray’s description of his life: “I am truly blessed. God is good!” Is that flowery enough (BIG GRIN)?
